We, Grand Rapids West International, a Haitian Church in Michigan, were dismayed to hear about the kidnapping of the 17 missionaries associated with the Christian Aid Ministries who were taken hostage in Haiti in the month of October, 2021.

As a Haitian Community in the US, we understand the challenges that our fellow Haitians face, especially after the recent earthquake, the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse, and the massive deportation of Haitian migrants and their families to Haiti. However, this does not excuse the actions of the Haitian Gang 400 Mawozo and their role in this kidnapping.

We pray for the missionaries and believe in God for their safe release. We pray that God strengthens the hearts of their loved ones and friends in the meantime. We pray for wisdom for our leaders in the US and Haiti as they negotiate in this tense situation. We pray God will open the eyes of the Gang members so they can recognize that they are terrorizing God’s people and renounce these actions.
